If May felt a little like December, you're not alone. Between deadlines, celebrations, milestones, and month-end reconciliations, May was packed from start to finish. As bookkeepers, we're no strangers to balancing the details, and this month reminded us that while reconciling accounts is important, taking time to celebrate the people behind the numbers matters just as much.

We kicked off the month with Team Building Bingo and a team lunch (Crystal’s work anniversary too), giving us a chance to connect outside of our daily tasks. Cue Christina with the confetti gun surprise after bingo. Confetti is still stuck in the ceiling tile creating a solid core memory.

And just like a good reconciliation brings everything into balance, spending time together helps strengthen the relationships that keep our team aligned and working toward the same goals.

May also brought some exciting milestones as both Dani and I celebrated our graduations. She graduated from Lonestar College, and I graduated from Leadership Montgomery County. Not only that, but congratulations to the BBK not-so littles. Shout out to Audrey Bush and Wyatt Dagg. Congratulations on graduating from high school.

Earning a degree takes dedication, persistence, and a commitment to seeing things through qualities that bookkeepers know well. Whether we're reconciling an account, solving a discrepancy, or pursuing personal growth, success often comes from staying focused on the details while keeping the bigger picture in mind.

Of course, we couldn't let the month pass without celebrating Cindy's birthday. We appreciate all she brings to the team and the positive impact she has on those around her. After all, every successful balance sheet and every successful team depend on the people who contribute to it.

As Memorial Day approached, we paused to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and selflessness deserve our deepest gratitude and reflection.

To close out the month, I gathered with my fellow LMC alumni for a happy hour, celebrating our accomplishment, and the bond we formed through the program. It was a fitting end to a month that felt full in every sense of the word.

As we wrap up "May-cember," it seems only appropriate to borrow a term from our profession: reconciliation. In bookkeeping, reconciliation is about ensuring everything is accounted for and in balance. Looking back on May, we found balance between hard work and celebration, professional growth and personal achievement, individual accomplishments and team connection. And just like a completed reconciliation, it's satisfying to see everything come together.

Here's to another month of balancing the books, supporting one another, and celebrating the milestones along the way.
