There’s no doubt about it that summer is here and in full swing at BBK – With or without welcoming the first day of summer!
From celebrating workiversaries, to coaching new summer interns, hosting a championship-sized Lunch & Learn, and cheering for our favorite countries in the 2026 FIFA World Cup – June was definitely a month of world-class excitement.
Every year I get the feeling of WOW I’ve already been here for 3 years, while also getting the feeling of WOW, I’ve only been here for 3 years! I honestly feel like I’ve known the amazing people here at BBK for at least a decade, but with all the office shenanigating I guess it may age you a little… There’s our seasoned shenanigator of 13 years, Lynn, then a couple of up and coming shenanigators of 3 years, Jennifer and myself. Some day we’ll talk Evelyn who’s already been with us for 2 years to taking the field with some shenanigating of her own.
Did I mention we did a 5k for one of our favorites (you know we can’t pick just one) Montgomery County Food Bank's Out Run Hunger 8K, 5K & 1K Color Dash. The energy from everyone alone made me feel like I could accomplish an 8k and then some!
It’s been such a great opportunity partnering with Education for Tomorrow Alliance (EfTA) who is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting the business and education communities in the Montgomery County area, empowering tomorrow's adults. We’ve had the joy of showing and coaching our first of three interns, Emilia, and demonstrating what all bookkeeping is about here and the BBK Way. It was a fan favorite of the Team seeing the drive and hunger our youth today still has for learning.
Speaking of coaching, I think I lost count for how many Training & Consulting’s we did during June. Whether seeing a business owner with the drive to understanding their books and doing them on their own, or their want for the “work life harmony” it filled my cup being able to assist so many so they can learn something new or get back to what matters most to them, the joy of running their business.
We had a full stadium (ok maybe not a stadium – but definitely a full house!) at our “Grant Strategy for Small Nonprofits: Where to Start and What to Prioritize” Lunch & Learn with Guest Speakers Allison Boyd and Boyd Grants. Allison shared a championship-worthy walk through on practical, strategic approach to finding the right funding opportunities, cutting through the overwhelm, and building a grant pipeline that grows alongside the organization.
While June was jam packed, I can’t wait to see what game changers July will bring to the field!
