July was a month full of celebration, service, leadership, milestones, and—of course—a little fun along the way!
From celebrating America’s 250th birthday and volunteering in our community, to celebrating a very special BBK birthday, honoring women in leadership, and embracing Shark Week during training, July reminds us of what makes our community and our team so special.
Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday
How did you spend your Fourth of July?
For me, the holiday was spent celebrating America’s 250th birthday with community, family, and plenty of patriotic spirit.
Two of my daughters and I spent the Fourth of July volunteering at the South County 4th of July Parade. This was our third year being part of the event, and it has become a tradition we truly enjoy. There’s something special about giving back to the community, especially when you get to do it alongside your family.
We also had the chance to cheer on our very own Melanie Bush, BBK Founder and Montgomery County Treasurer. Watching her serve our community in yet another way was a great reminder of how many people give their time, energy, and talents to make a difference right here at home.
A Sweet 16 for BBK
July also marked a very special milestone for BBK—our Sweet 16!
For 16 years, BBK has had the privilege of serving our community with excellence, integrity, and heart.
Sixteen years is a milestone worth celebrating, but it is also an opportunity to reflect on what has carried us forward throughout the years.
Our core values—Respect, Intentional, Perspective, and Enrichment—continue to guide us today. They influence how we serve, how we work together, how we approach challenges, and how we continue to grow.
We are incredibly grateful for the trust our clients, team members, partners, and community have placed in us over the past 16 years.
Sixteen years down—and we are excited for what comes next!
Celebrating Women Who Lead
July also brought an inspiring afternoon at the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber Athena Leadership Award Luncheon, a celebration of women who lead, serve, inspire, and make a difference in their communities.
Congratulations to Diana White, who was honored as the 9th Athena recipient. Her recognition was a meaningful reminder of the impact one person can have through leadership, service, and commitment to others.
The luncheon also featured Hands of Justice, whose life-changing work is a powerful reminder of the importance of advocacy, compassion, and creating opportunities for people to move forward. Their work in the community demonstrates what can happen when people are willing to step in, stand up, and make a difference.
A highlight of the event was hearing from Elizabeth Smart. Her story and message offered a powerful perspective on strength, resilience, and the ability to move forward despite unimaginable challenges.
The Athena luncheon was more than an awards celebration. It was a reminder of the collective strength of women and the extraordinary things that can happen when we choose to support one another.
Shark Week: Because We Work Hard and Play Hard!
And then there was Shark Week!
If there is one thing BBK is known for, it is that we work hard—but we play hard, too!
So, naturally, our training this month had to embrace the spirit of Shark Week.
Keeping it real…fun, that is!
Training doesn't always have to be serious. While we take our work, our clients, and our responsibilities very seriously, we also believe in creating an environment where our team can laugh, connect, enjoy each other, and have a little fun.
And Shark Week gave us the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Sometimes it is those unexpected moments of fun that bring a team closer together. A little creativity, a lot of laughter, and a shared theme can turn an ordinary training day into something people look forward to.
Looking Back on July
As I look back on July, I am reminded of how much there is to celebrate.
We celebrated America's 250th birthday and the people who make our community stronger.
We celebrated 16 years of BBK, reflecting on where we've been and the values that continue to guide us.
We celebrated women in leadership and the incredible impact that happens when women lift one another up.
And we celebrated our BBK team, because working hard is important—but so is having fun along the way!
July was a reminder that life and work are made up of more than milestones and accomplishments. They are also made up of the people beside us, the communities we serve, the values we hold close, and the moments we share.
So, hello July—and thank you for the memories, the lessons, the celebrations, and yes…even the sharks!
Here's to carrying all of that good energy into August!
