I am so excited to write this blog! Change is an inevitable thing in life, just like death and taxes. In the 15 plus years of Better Bookkeepers so much has changed – office locations (4 moves in 15 years), software, etc. At the end of the day the one thing that matters most never changes, RELATIONSHIPS.
In 2013, Better Bookkeepers was experiencing rapid growth, and I was hiring new team members as fast as I could find them. The only problem was finding the right fit. Here’s where relationships are key. A friend from church connected me with Lori; Lori and I bonded over some school stuff and then she referred Heidi Bullard to me. Heidi was a mom looking to re-enter the workforce that started out part time in the summer and went full time not long after school started. Heidi was an incredible team member, becoming a leadership team member rapidly and someone I could rely on. Then the day came when Heidi moved on to another opportunity.
Fast forward to today, Heidi and I are still friends. We never stopped our connection, despite her leaving Better Bookkeepers. In 2025 when we needed some reliable, great help, we reached out to Heidi. She had “retired” from the CPA world, so it worked. Well now she is back to a full-fledged team member, desiring the challenge our work provides but also the flexibility we give!
